When darkness falls, when day is done I trace the path of which I’ve come A lonely road, but nevermind It all makes sense through space and time … Time to let go, time to forgive You learned a lot, it’s time to live” (2x) So long ago, I feared the night Afraid to live, afraid to die But when it rained, I learned to smile I learned to dance, a little while Little while, little while I met the sun, again at last Surrounded by my crowded past She spoke to me and called my name “My dear, my love … it’s a new day ... … Time to let go, time to forgive You learned a lot, it’s time to live” (2x) So long ago, I feared the night Afraid to live, afraid to die But when it rained, I learned to smile I learned to dance, a little while Little while, little while (2x) Take a breath, ‘nother step No look back, past has left (4x)

Thorn in my side the size of a Cadillac; Matt Skiba needin' Shiva's cataracts. Either deciever or true believer: how to act when the world stands still? This ocean is host to the soul-less. The slow comatose shoulder cold over motives. I seen 'em. They said they seen it too, I guess I believe 'em. (God have mercy, Christ have mercy) No I don't. It's just a way of interjecting themselves and the subsequent homebrew Hell. Frankly, I find myself stumbling on specifics that everyone else assumes. Home is where the heart is too afraid to leave its room. I sniff through the fumes and smell it was just something cookin' on the blistered rotting epidermis thermostat set. Demagogue buried where he slept; hygrangeas growin on the grave wishin' they could wish to rue the day. Never suprised and if it's high tide in the wake of the flood I'll wait with my blood-stained... Apparitions Aspirations Inhibitions Classifications Of all lifeforms listed under category: Not me. Not you. Not anyone we knew. Not anyone we thought we knew. Not anytime we told the truth, Leaking from the surfaces of mouths almost blue from asphixiation. No air comin' through through. Shutters closin' on a window. A drone crashin' through a roof. A garden of earthly delights. A gargolye on a stoop wishin' anyone would dare to see it new. (it's me and you) (it's me and you) (it's me and you) Hold me close and don't let go for the rest of the whole mosaic shit show. Hold still. Let the eclipse shit go. (it's me and you) (it's me and you) Another minute 'til the whimsicle diminish. (it's me and you) (it's me and you) A smile soured. A grimace empowered. Aacrifical scapegoat suddenly a coward. Sunset in the Tower. (it's me and you) A lucid lavender hour. (it's me and you)

First off let me say I couldn’t see the way you changed me baby yeah Never know what to think I just go with the flow and I hope you don’t hurt me babe Really feeling like you see through me There’s no point in hiding My heart’s been comprised it’s true When you move I move It’s hopeless but I’m cool with it Deep down, I don’t have a doubt that.. God knew what he was doing When he sent you to me My life’s a living movie Sometimes seems like a dream Baby when you’re around me You know I love the view One thing I know for sure is I need you Now I know what I want Want ya hand in my hand So we can slow dance Feelings of romance so deep for ya baby You had the lighter And you sparked a fire in me The sun’s looking brighter It’s everything you do everything you do Really love the way you speak to me You don’t have to lie cuz I see it in your eyes it’s true When you move I move It’s hopeless but I’m cool with it Deep down, I don’t have a doubt that.. God knew what he was doing When he sent you to me My life’s a living movie Sometimes seems like a dream Baby when you’re around me You know I love the view one thing I know for sure is I need you

about

Louisville, Kentucky, a city with no shortage of musical heavyweights in its history (look it up!), is home to the prolific hip-hop/neo-soul producer Dr. Dundiff. Armed with an array of instruments (including his trusty MPC) and a bevy of talented area collaborators, Dr. Dundiff has revealed The Distance, his latest ambitious album, released on the Cold Busted label. WIth over 40 projects under his belt — including past releases on Jakarta Records, Mellow Orange Music, and Grand Garden Records — Dr. Dundiff draws upon a wealth of musical experiences, all coming together harmoniously on The Distance. The album is deliciously jazzy and deliriously loose with crisp beats, smooth vibes, and amazing vocalists and emcees, including Claire Reneé, James Lindsey, K Raydio, Pink Siifu, and Shania Robinson.

“What You Want,” featuring the lovely Claire Rene and some stunning saxophone riffs, sets the tone on a smokey soulful sheen. It’s the real deal, also evident in the abstract hip-hop of “Slip.” Here the L.A.-based Pink Siifu transmits exquisite rhymes over Dr. Dundiff’s remarkable production and a glorious, ramshackle rhythm. Another highlight is the exceptionally groovy “What I Want” (perhaps an answer to the earlier song?). The music wraps the listener in a warm territory not too far off from Blue LInes-era Massive Attack, guided by the voice of Shania Robinson. “Skat” is notable, as well, with a super-dope performance by renowned Louisville rapper James Lindsey and an emotive ‘done different’ music bed. And then there’s the title track, featuring K Raydio’s calm and reassuring vocal delivery, which soulfully drives home the theme of the album. As Dr. Dundiff says, “Everybody has someplace that they are and everybody has someplace that they want to be. And The Distance is the space between.”
